Finance Glossary
My name is Garen Bahlawanian, and I have been in the program Organization Management at Montmorency College for about 2 years now. My program is all about mathematics, finance, business, and economy. Therefore, this glossary contains terms that will help individuals in my program to understand the topic of finance and all that is related to it, because sometimes some of the words can be quite complex. Although if you have an interest in finance, this is the glossary for you! It also includes audios of the terms and sometimes even pictures for a better understanding. Enjoy!

- noun
- Property owned by a person or company, regarded as having value and available to meet debts, commitments, or legacies.
- Example: My assets value is rising along the years.

- noun
- A financial establishment that invests money deposited by customers, pays it out when required, makes loans at interest, and exchanges currency.
- Example: I went to the bank to get a loan for my car.

- noun
- A person who buys and sells goods or assets for others.
- Example: My broker will help you with your finances.

- noun
- The practice of making one's living by engaging in commerce.
- Example: Bob just started his car business.

- noun
- Wealth in the form of money or other assets owned by a person or organization or available or contributed for a particular purpose such as starting a company or investing.
- Example: Bob started his own business by using capital, but didn't have enough, so he went to the bank and got a loan.

- noun
- A number given to somebody to show how likely they are to pay back money that they borrow from a bank, a company, etc.
- Example: My credit score is so low, so now I won't be able to get a loan from the bank.

- Something, typically money, that is owed or due.
- Example: I have so much student debt.

- noun
- The desire of purchasers, consumers, clients, employers, etc., for a particular commodity, service, or other item.
- Example: The public has numerous demands that are sometimes impossible to meet.

- The management of large amounts of money, especially by governments or large companies.
- Example: Presbyterians retained a consciousness of their Scottish origins and came to have a significant presence in the local economy and finance institutions, predominating in the North and East.

- noun
- A general increase in prices and fall in the purchasing value of money.
- Example: The government and the TUC were now committed to a concordat to bring inflation down to 5 per cent over three years, while new TUC guidelines were issued over picketing and the operation of the closed shop.

- The action or process of investing money for profit or material result.
- Example: Bob has a lot of investments all around the world.

- noun
- A thing that is borrowed, especially a sum of money that is expected to be paid back with interest.
- Example: I needed a loan from the bank to buy my house.

- A current medium of exchange in the form of coins and banknotes; coins and banknotes collectively.
- Example: If you invest the time and money to project your programmes and ideas then you must be planning longevity, indicating staying power.

- The state of being extremely poor.
- Example: Canada's poverty rate is accumulating.

- noun
- A financial gain, especially the difference between the amount earned and the amount spent in buying, operating, or producing something.
- Example: The broiler production enterprise seemed to be making a good profit.

- noun
- A period of temporary economic decline during which trade and industrial activity are reduced, generally identified by a fall in GDP in two successive quarters.
- Example: In the current situation of economic recession, and cuts in the few nursery facilities that do exist, this option does not appear to be a very feasible one.

- Income, especially when of a company or organization and of a substantial nature.
- Example: Although revenue tripled in real terms during the seventeenth century the budget was not brought into balance.

- noun
- The capital raised by a business or corporation through the issue and subscription of shares.
- Example: Bob just invested his money in Amazon's stock shares.

- supply
- noun
- The amount of a good or service offered for sale.
- Example: In economy, the supply doesn't always perfectly answer what the consumers want.

- noun
- The number or proportion of unemployed people.
- Example: However, whilst the extended area incorporates 30,000 jobs, an unemployment rate of 30 per cent stubbornly persists.
